Getting Started

Welcome to StatStream, an AI-powered Industrial Energy Intelligence and IoT platform that helps you monitor equipment, analyze energy consumption, automate alerts, and optimize operations from a single dashboard.

Whether you’re monitoring a single machine or multiple industrial facilities, you can get started in just a few steps.

Make sure you have the following:

  • A StatStream account
  • Access to a Workspace
  • At least one supported IoT device or gateway
  • Internet connectivity for your gateway or controller
  • Administrator or Engineer access

Tip If you’re evaluating StatStream for the first time, create a dedicated workspace for testing before connecting production equipment.

  1. Create Your Workspace

After logging in, create your first workspace.

A workspace acts as an isolated environment containing:

    • Devices
    • Variables
    • Dashboards
    • Users
    • Alerts
    • Reports
    • Assets
  2. Connect Your Devices

Connect your industrial devices using a supported protocol.

    Supported protocols include:

    • MQTT
    • HTTP / REST APIs
  3. Configure Variables

Variables define the data points that StatStream collects from your devices.

    Examples include:

    • Voltage
    • Current
    • Power
    • Energy (kWh)
    • Frequency
    • Temperature
    • Pressure
    • Status values

Variables are the foundation for dashboards, alerts, reports, AI insights, and historical analysis.

  4. Configure Assets

Organize your equipment into logical assets such as:

    • Energy Meters
    • Transformers
    • Pumps
    • Compressors
    • HVAC Systems
    • Production Lines
  5. Build Dashboards

Add and configure dashboard widgets to visualize live data from your connected devices and variables.

  6. Configure Alerts

Create rules that notify your team whenever operating conditions exceed defined limits.

  7. Analyze & Optimize

Once live data starts flowing, StatStream automatically helps you monitor and improve performance.

Here are a few commonly used metrics to get started with:

  • Total Energy Consumption
  • Current Power Demand
  • Voltage & Current
  • Power Factor
  • Equipment Status
  • Daily Energy Trend

These are just a starting point — StatStream offers a full library of dashboard widgets (charts, gauges, maps, tables, and more) so you can build out a dashboard that fits your exact monitoring needs. See the Dashboards section for the complete widget reference.

Once configured, dashboards update automatically with incoming telemetry.

After completing the initial setup, continue with:

  1. Add additional users and assign roles
  2. Configure maintenance assets
  3. Create custom dashboards
  4. Set alert thresholds
  5. Schedule automated reports
  6. Explore AI-powered recommendations
  7. Connect multiple facilities or plants

  • Organize devices by plant or facility.
  • Use meaningful names for assets and meters.
  • Configure alerts before deploying to production.
  • Review dashboards regularly to identify unusual trends.
  • Enable automated reports for daily and monthly monitoring.
  • Grant users only the permissions they require.

If you encounter any issues during setup:

  • Verify device connectivity.
  • Confirm communication protocol settings.
  • Ensure gateways can reach the StatStream Cloud.
  • Check user permissions for workspace access.
  • Review device logs for communication errors.

You’re now ready to start monitoring your industrial infrastructure with StatStream.
